Why Aritzia Is My New Favorite Clothing Line

Allow me to set the scene for you.

It was a Monday evening. I had plans to see a movie with Z at the mall and grab a little dinner beforehand. I had to get there early to run an errand and had plenty of time to spare before Z arrived, so I started leisurely walking the corridors of Northpark.

I know this mall well. I not only grew up visiting it with my mom, but have lived 10 minutes from it for my entire adulthood. Northpark is a second home to me. I’ve watched it shift and transform over the years and am always delighted to see new stores being added to their impressive line-up. One of those stores is Aritzia—a retail line out of Canada that, out of the goodness of its heart (and owners), has started making its way to America.

It was a casual passing. I simply walked by, saw a singular dress that looked cute, and decided to go in and see what was what. An hour later, I was leaving Aritzia with over $1,000 worth of new clothes, all of which made me feel the most confident in my body that I have in a few years. I was pissed; this wasn’t the plan. I’m a calculated shopper and rarely let myself go off the cuff and spend that much in one visit ever. But when the shopping landscape is as confusing and bleak as it has been in years, you don’t turn your nose up at elevated basics this good. You just don’t.

Before I dive into the pieces I bought, I want to give you two major caveats about shopping at Aritzia that I feel as a fellow consumer, shopper, and lady, I need you to give you.

Caveat one, and this is major, is that Aritzia has no in-room mirrors. That’s right—you are not afforded the privacy of trying things on in your dressing room and hating yourself behind closed doors. You must walk out of your room and into the communal dressing room area that has floor to ceiling mirrors awaiting you. I realize what a massive turn-off this is to the majority of women. It’s vulnerable, it’s exposing, it’s borderline rude. However, if you can know this ahead of time and mentally prepare yourself, you can do it. I did it, and I’m alive and very well.

Caveat two should come as no surprise as it sort of goes hand-in-hand with caveat one. The Aritzia sales associates work on serious commission. In other words, they’re intense and there are at least two dwelling in the communal dressing room area at-the-ready to tell you how amazing you look in literally everything you try on (even when everyone knows you don’t). They are aggressive and bring other pieces to your room that you didn’t pick out for yourself BUT—they’re pretty great, too. We’ve all become so accustom to online shopping with absolutely zero personal touches that having an in-person, hands-on experience at Aritzia was a very surprising delight for me. I was in the right mood and headspace, so I didn’t mind it and I got a really great sales lady (ask for Krystal if she’s there!).

Okay now let’s dive into the details on the pieces I got. If you haven’t watched my Aritzia Haul Reel on Instagram yet, definitely do that so you can see them all in action!

*Also: Aritzia is not affiliated with the LTK network, so I do not make a dime off any of this and I don’t even care. I just want to spread the good word that is this brand!

1) Cowl-neck Camisole: I own so many t-shirts, but so little nicer tops so this cowl-neck cami was a shoe-in for me. It has adjustable straps and is made from a very luxe, lightweight satin from Japan. It’s available in A TON of colors, but I got the Birch to keep it classic for now. I took a Medium!

2) Destiny Blazer: I never knew I needed a white blazer until I tried on Aritzia’s Destiny Blazer. It’s double-breasted and has subtle shoulder pads for shaping and looks great over, um, everything? The material is what they call Crepette—crepe with a subtle texture and very breezy feel. It’s absolutely meant to be oversized, and I took a size 6.

3) Sculpt Knit Polo Long Sleeve: So something Aritzia does really well and is sort of known for is all their sculpting wear. Basically, they’re really good at creating extremely flattering pieces. This ribbed long sleeve polo is not something I would’ve ever paid attention to, but my sales woman brought it to my room and I ended up LOVING it. It’s sexy and classy at once, and offers the perfect cropped length to sit prettily atop any of their high-waisted pants. I took a Medium and got the Matte Pearl color.

4) Command Cropped Pant: I really truly thought that leather pants of any kind were not meant for me, and then these happened. The Aritzia Command Cropped Pant are 100% vegan leather and so fucking sleek, so flattering, and make me feel like a sexy boss ass bitch. I am obsessed and want them in many colors. They come in short, regular, and tall as well! I got the Matte Pearl color in a regular size 10.

5) Sculpt Knit One-Shoulder Cropped Tank: Hello and good-bye forever. You guys… this piece comes in 18 colors and I want all 18. I just love that at first glance, you’re like “Ok but it’s a tiny little crop top?” but it’s so much more than that. You can wear it casually for a girls night or dress it up with a blazer and smart pants for the office—it’s simply fantastic. I got it in black in a size Large.

6) The Dashwood Pant: Four words for you— high-waisted pleated trousers. These were the first thing I tried on at Aritzia, and I squealed out in the communal dressing room. I didn’t even care; I looked so good and forgot how good I can look in clothes when I find the right ones. They have cuffed hems so loafers look perfect with them, an elastic back waist for comfort, and are made from that same gorgeous Crepette fabric as the white blazer. I want every color. I took a size 10!

7) Power Hip Blazer: Who doesn’t love an open-front blazer? It’s a nice change of pace from all the buttons when you’re craving something not-so-literally buttoned up. She’s drapey, she’s got ruched sleeves, and subtle shoulder pads for shape. This Aritzia blazer is made from TruCrepe, which is a Japanese fabric that is matte-crepe on one side and satin on the other. I love her. I took a size 10 in this!

8) 7” Divinity Romper: Last but absolutely not least is Aritzia’s most popular item right now, the Divinity Romper. You’ve probably seen little Gen Z’ers wearing something like it with an open, white button down and chunky ass sneakers and thought to yourself “That’s cute but I could never.” I’m here to tell you as a 35yo woman that you absolutely can and should. This romper is wildly comfortable and very flattering. It’s body-hugging in the best way, and there’s no limit to the amount of looks you can create with it. I will be taking it on our honeymoon and throwing jackets, sweaters, and blazers over it all along the way! I took a Small.

Y’all, this is just the beginning of my love affair with Aritzia. It has reignited my excitement to shop and know that the pieces are going to be well-made, flattering, and fun. Once you see all they have to offer, you’ll realize I barely skimmed the surface because I already knew the damage was going to be bad money-wise, so I had to control myself. I wish you the same control.
