The Curl Cream That Changed My Curls Forever

I KNOW I’ve spoken to this before, but it’s a truth worth repeating over and over to really drill it in:

WITH CURLY HAIR, THE JOURNEY IS NEVER-ENDING.

I’ve written countless posts about products, routine, methods, all of it. In fact, here are some older posts to check out if you haven’t:

and my most recent post, which is where I’m at today: How To Use The Dyson Diffuser On Curly Hair

I’ve been wearing my hair naturally curly since the 8th grade and if I were to tally the amount of money I’ve spent on creams, gels, mousses…it would be shocking. You name it, I’ve bought it, tried it, and probably thrown it away. Although I’ve been trying to find my hair’s lifetime elixir for years, I really got into figuring out my curls during the Panorama. All I had was time, so I dove headfirst into my own head of curls.

As it goes with curly hair, the minute you think you’ve figured it out, something changes, you hear about a new product, and you’re back at square one. Luckily for me, I’ve been pretty fucking happy with where my curls are for the last several months. Since investing in the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer & Diffuser, my curls have literally never looked better. People ask me if it’s worth it and all I can say is

YES. IT'S FUCKING WORTH EVERY DIME!

HOWEVER. My curliosity (GET IT) got the best of me at Target the other week when I spotted this tube of cream by Curlsmith. The main reason it grabbed my attention was because of the name “Feather-Light Protein Cream.” I recently got the smallest trim with my hairstylist who let me know that my hair is in great shape, but could use a little bit more protein via product. I have never tried any Curlsmith products, but grabbed this tube and decided to give a shot.

I have never, in my (does quick math) 23 years of trying to figure out this head of hair, seen it look this good. I’ve thought it’s looked great before, but this cream literally changed everything. I knew nothing about it, didn’t read any sort of reviews—I just had a gut feeling. It’s the only thing I’ve changed in my wash day routine; it has replaced the Not Your Mother’s Curl cream in my process (which is written out in full detail on this post!). I don’t know what it is about this particular product, I just know that it works true wonders on my 3A/3B curls and has them looking like goddamn ringlets for days on end. That’s the other thing—this protein-based curl cream holds steady. The first time I used it was on a Sunday, and the next time I felt the need to wash my hair to get the curls looking alive again was the following Friday. UNHEARD OF FOR ME!

Enjoy these pictures of my hair with this curl cream worked into it, and buy a bottle to see for yourself!
